Why Make Shredded Chicken In the Crockpot?
Making shredded chicken in your crockpot is honestly the easiest thing, and this is such a great recipe. The chicken has a rich, and slightly sweet flavor from the spices, and the chicken stock helps it maintain its moisture making it nice and juicy every time.
And you can do SO MANY things with shredded chicken. Make a big batch of this at the beginning of the week and enjoy multiple different meals with it.
Easy Meal Ideas with Shredded Chicken
Chicken Sandwiches: Toss chicken with your favorite BBQ or Buffalo sauce and pile on a soft sandwich roll with red onion, lettuce and tomato.
Chicken Tacos: Serve chicken in hard corn shells, and top with shredded cheddar cheese, salsa, sour cream and diced avocado.
Caesar Salad Wrap: Toss chicken with shredded romaine lettuce, tomato, black olives, shredded parmesan cheese and your favorite Caesar dressing. Roll up into a large flour tortilla and cut in half.
Asian Chicken and Rice: Sauté sliced onion, red bell pepper and pea pods in olive oil, soy sauce and minced garlic until tender. Scoop veggies onto a bed of Jasmin rice and top with shredded chicken. Drizzle some of the chicken’s liquid from the crockpot over the top. Sprinkle with cashews and crushed red pepper flakes.
Greek Pitas: Dice tomatoes, cucumbers and kalamata olives and toss in Greek salad dressing. Spread hummus inside of a pita pocket. Stuff pockets with shredded chicken and the Greek veggie medley. Sprinkle crumbled feta cheese on top.

What Ingredients Do You Need to Make Shredded Chicken in the Crockpot?
- boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- chicken stock (I like this one)
- brown sugar
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- oregano
- paprika
How Do You Make Shredded Chicken in the Crockpot??
In a slow cooker, start with 2lbs of chicken breasts and pour 2 cups of chicken broth over top of them.
Add 1T of brown sugar, 1t garlic powder, 1t onion powder,1 t oregano and 1t paprika.
Give everything a good stir and set it on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours, or until chicken is cooked through (165 degrees F minimum).
Once the chicken is cooked, use two forks to gently shred it.
If you are going to serve it immediately, you can transfer it out of the slow cooker and into a serving dish.
If you are making the chicken a head if time, store it in an airtight container in the liquid from the slow cooker so that it maintains its moisture. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Can You Freeze Shredded Chicken?
You bet! Once the chickens cools, store it in an airtight container like Ziplock bag or a glass storage containers with a little bit of the liquid from the slow cooker. This will help prevent freezer burn.
You can store the chicken in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Can you overcook Chicken In the Crockpot?
This recipe calls for plenty of liquid to keep your chicken moist while it cooks. Stick to the recommended cooking times and your chicken will come out perfect every time.
If you leave the chicken in the crockpot on longer than the recommended cooking times, or at a higher temperature, you could cook off the liquid, thus making your chicken dry out.
