Why Make Homemade Taco Seasoning?

I cannot tell you the number of taco nights that I had ground beef browning away on a hot stove and I’d go to the cabinet to grab a taco seasoning packet only to discover that I didn’t have one!

So I finally decided to open my spice cabinet and come up with my own homemade version. I use a simple spice mixture of ingredients that I always keep stocked in my kitchen, so now I never have to worry about running out again!

Of course taco seasoning is used to season ground beef or ground turkey for tacos, burritos, salads, nachos, etc. But It also makes a great rub on chicken before you grill it. Or to season steamed vegetables or beans. I also like to mix it with sour cream for a fun southwest flavored veggie dip or salad dressing.
