Equipment

  • 10 wooden skewers either 6" like these or 12"like these
  • 10 red ribbons cut into 4" strips (I use tulle like this, but any skinny ribbon will also work)

Ingredients

  • 2 10 oz bags mini powdered donuts approx 30 donuts
  • 10 orange plain M&Ms I usually two of the grab the 3.10oz box like this to ensure i get 10 orange candies
  • 30 mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Open both bags of mini donuts and inspect them. You will want to pick out the nicest looking donuts. The flatter sides should be the backside and rounder sides should be face up. Dents or misshapen sides of donuts, can be hidden by using them as the center donut in the stack.
  • Using the sharp end of the wooden skewer, slide three of the donuts the long way from the bottom of each donut. Tip: make sure the donut on the top has a small center hole.
  • Using the flat side of a wooden skewer, gently puncture two holes into the top donut above the center hole. Twist slightly at an angle to widen the hole a tiny bit. Insert a mini chip into each of the holes you made with the skewer. These will be the eyes of your snowman.
  • Next, pour out both boxes of M&Ms into a small bowl and pick out the orange colored candies. Note: you could also use Reese's Pieces
  • Turn the candy so that its running horizontally and the M&M logo is facing downward. Insert the M&M into the center hole of the top donut to create the look of a "carrot nose" for you snowman.
  • Grab your ribbon and cut strips roughly 4" long. Slide ribbon under the backside of snowman and wrap the around to the front side. Either tie in loose knot, or simply twist the ribbon a few times so it stays together and softly tuck between the top two donuts.
  • Serve snowmen on a tray. Makes approx 10 snowmen.
