This easy fall dessert tastes like it came right out of grandma’s kitchen! Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings with tart apple wedges wrapped in store bought crescent dough, then baked to perfection in a cinnamon sugar sauce are a simple and delicious Autumn treat.
Preheat oven to 350°F degrees and use cooking spray to grease a 9×13 baking dish.
Peel two large apples, then slice into 16 wedges. I love this simple peeler.
Open and unroll one can of crescent dough, then separate into triangles. Place two apple wedges at the wide end of each triangle, and roll up snugly. Arrange with the point of the triangle-side up in the baking dish for a pretty effect.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup butter. Whisk in 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp vanilla. Stir occasionally while cooking until sauce becomes thick. Pour the mixture evenly over the dumplings.
Pour 1 mini can of Sprite around the edges and down the center between dumplings (not directly on top of). This will help the tops of the dumplings stay crisp.
Bake dumplings for 25-30 mins or until dough is fully cooked and a bit crisp on top.
Spoon dumpling onto plate. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Feel free to drizzle some of the cinnamon sugar sauce from the baking dish over top before serving.
