Grab a microwave safe bowl. I like to use a deep one as we will want to be able to dip the rice krispie treats pretty far into the melted chocolate.Break apart the chocolate candy coating and melt in bowl in 30 second increments giving it a good stir in between to smooth out any lumps. It takes about 60-90 seconds in my microwave to melt.
While the chocolate is melting, unwrap the store bought rice kripies treats. If you want to make them yourself vs buying them pre-made, you definitely can! There is an easy to follow recipe right on the back of the box of Rice Krispies.
Lay out parchment paper on your counter. Separate out 16 red M&Ms and set aside.
Remove your bowl of melted chocolate from microwave. Dip rice krispie treats in the chocolate one at a time. You will want to cover approx 2/3rds of the treat in the chocolate and leave only 1/3rd chocolate free. Shake it a few times get off any access chocolate, and lay it flat on the parchment paper.
Add the candy eyes in the center of the krispie treat (do not place them too high on the chocolate as you will need room for the pretzel antlers).
Add one red M&M "nose" below the eyes.
Break a tiny twist pretzel in half. Place each half above the eyes as the "antlers". Have fun with this part. You can face them inwards or outwards. Leave the pretzels in larger "loops" or break them down further to be smaller, "E" shaped pieces. A little bit of variation in how you apply the antlers just adds to the character of these little guys.
Let them completely dry and the chocolate harden (about 10-15 mins) before you remove them from the parchment paper.
Use a sharp knife to trim off any access chocolate from the sides if necessary.
Serve on a large platter or tray.
